Houston-Galveston Area Council IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IF YOU LIVE, WORK OR PLAY IN TOMBALL!

PUBLIC COMMENTS CAN BE SENT TO TXDot — If citizens want to CHANGE what has been proposed by the 2015 plan — Project Number 17085. Help “preserve our history” and protect what makes Downtown Tomball so unique. Here are a few talking points to help citizens with requesting TXDot to revisit the traffic problem identified in the 2015 study. TXDot, by federal law, must read every comment so this is a CALL TO COMMENT. Use any and/or all of these current talking points to begin your email and/or discussion with TXDot  Project #17085:

[ 1 ]  Grand Parkway opened in 2016 and became the new east west corridor from Hwy 290 to Interstate 45. Our heavy truck traffic and accidents decreased because of Hwy 99. WE REQUEST TXDot REVISIT Traffic Analysis updating for Hwy 99 and the Tomball Bypass.

[ 2 ]  To install median lanes in our 115 year old Historical Area will negatively impact our small businesses that we support in Tomball. Medians installed along 2920/Main Street will also change the feel and culture of the “Heart of our Hometown” that attract so many families, business, and visitors to live, work, and play in Tomball.

[ 3 ]  A compromise is continuing the turn lane TXDot has graciously built all along FM 2920 in our city limits and install HAWK Pedestrian Traffic Lights at Oak and Elm. When a pedestrian needs to cross the road, a button is pushed and the light goes red to cross. When not needed, it is a blinking yellow which does not impede traffic but slows traffic through this area promoting safety and enabling our small businesses to continue to thrive without medians.
